Year 2006-2007 is the turning point of my life, things happened during Intra Company Transfer assignment in Toyota Auto Body Co. Ltd. Japan. Working as a real designer in big design team and transforming myself to be a new father…it all started here.
It was the first minor change of Toyota Innova, and it’s became a memorable experience. I found many new things in developing car design with elaborated methods here. Starting from making concept, exploring idea sketch until clay modeling. It was tough but yet enjoyable, a very tight competition among designers will make you push yourself beyond your limits. You have to do more than your best to be a car designer.
Lucky for me, my idea for Rear Bumper & Rear Combination Lamp was selected to become this generation of Innova. Thanks to TAB Japan Design Directors & Manager Mr. Otsuki, Mr. Kondo & Mr. Okada, also the Designers Mr. Endo, Mr. Ando, Mr. Hasegawa, Mr. Kouzai, Mr. Yamagami, Mr. Koumoto, Mr. Ogawa, Mr. Kentaro, Mr. Kowaki, and the modelers Mr. Sumitomo & Mr. Takao, and all of fellow designers in TAB who taught me many things, always encourage me and gave their supports in my assignment.
However, the most unforgetable thing during my assignment in TAB Japan is that I started to be a father, our first daughter was born….in the apartment…and I delivered the baby by myself with my tough wife because we were too late to call the ambulance. We named her Nozomi Anzan Budiman, means “hope to be born safely..”. We named her that because we were on our own in a place where all seems very new for us, and we were so worried for this first maternity experience, moreover it was abroad and no parents nor friends that can guide us about it, we can only pray to God, we had nothing but hope to make it through by ourselves. Thanks to my friends in TAB, they sincerely supported us to go through the moments.
Good old times with friends and family will last forever, it forged us to be strong, sculpted the contour of our minds, value our life and determine who we are now.
